A personal invitation to contribute

How do experienced practitioners know what to do when the textbook stops being enough?

Rezolva is building a living archive of professional judgment in dispute resolution to capture what experienced practitioners notice, what influences their decisions, where good practitioners disagree, and what they might actually do or say when the answer isn’t obvious.

Selected practitioners from different fields, practice settings and jurisdictions are being invited to contribute short, attributed perspectives drawn from their professional experience.

You choose what to submit, review the transcript, and approve your attribution before project review.

Your invitation

Why you’ve been invited

Rezolva is inviting experienced practitioners from different fields, practice settings and jurisdictions whose perspectives can add something useful to the professional record.

You are not expected to provide a definitive or “correct” answer. The value lies in explaining how you approach difficult situations, what you consider, what experience has taught you, and when another experienced practitioner might reasonably take a different approach.

01

Professional judgment, not textbook answers

The project is interested in what experienced practitioners actually notice, consider and do — including the places where good practitioners legitimately disagree.

02

Your own words

Your perspective remains attributed to you and traceable to the recording you choose to submit. Rezolva does not create synthetic voices or likenesses of contributors through this process.

03

Reviewed before use

You review your transcript and attribution. Rezolva then carries out confidentiality, editorial and rights checks before approved material is published or used.

The process

What contributing involves

A guided contribution you can complete at your own pace. Your progress is saved if you stop.

  1. 01

    Confirm your details

A short professional profile helps Rezolva accurately attribute your contribution and understand the practice context from which you are speaking.

  2. 02

    Read the contributor arrangements

The Contributor Agreement and Privacy Notice explain how your recorded contribution may be captured, used and preserved as part of Rezolva, Judgment in the Room and related permitted project outputs.

  3. 03

    Answer your questions

You will usually receive one to three questions matched to your experience. Most answers are one to three minutes. Speak naturally, as you would to another experienced practitioner. You can re-record your answer as often as you like.

  4. 04

    Review your transcript

Rezolva automatically prepares a transcript. You can read it, correct anything that matters and approve your transcript and attribution.

  5. 05

    Project review

Rezolva carries out confidentiality, editorial and rights checks. Approved material may then be used in accordance with the Contributor Agreement.

Your time commitment

Around 15–20 minutes in total, including setup.

Most answers are 1–3 minutes.

You can stop and return at any point — your progress is saved.

A flagship international book and interview project

Judgment in the Room

Judgment in the Room explores the professional judgment experienced dispute resolution practitioners develop through years of doing the work, what they notice, what influences their decisions, what concerns them, where experienced practitioners disagree, and what they might actually do or say in difficult moments.

A smaller group of invited practitioners will participate in longer professionally filmed interviews. Perspectives from the wider Rezolva contributor community may also help inform the book, subject to the Contributor Agreement and editorial selection.

The book is an important first publishing project arising from the Rezolva archive, but the professional knowledge being captured is intended to remain useful and continue growing beyond a single publication.

Where good practitioners disagree

Experienced practitioners do not always make the same decision when faced with the same difficult moment.

One may intervene quickly when emotion rises. Another may wait. One may see silence as a sign that the conversation is failing; another may regard the same silence as the point at which something important is finally happening.

The difference is not necessarily competence. It may be judgment.

What matters is what the practitioner noticed, what they believed was happening, what alternatives they considered, and why one intervention seemed preferable to another in that particular room.

Judgment in the Room explores these differences by placing experienced practitioners’ perspectives alongside one another — not to identify a single correct approach, but to make visible the reasoning that usually remains beneath the surface of professional practice.

Beyond the book

Judgment in the Room is an important first publishing project arising from the Rezolva archive. But the underlying professional knowledge is intended to remain useful beyond a single publication.

Subject to the Contributor Agreement, approved perspectives may also support attributed video or audio extracts, transcripts and quotations, articles, podcasts, professional learning and related digital resources.

The aim is to preserve valuable practitioner judgment in a form that can continue to be organised, compared and learned from over time.

About Rezolva

Rezolva is creating a living, attributable record of professional judgment in dispute resolution.

Its purpose is to preserve and organise the practical knowledge experienced practitioners develop through doing the work,  including different approaches, professional reasoning, context and legitimate disagreement so that valuable experience can be learned from rather than lost.

The project begins with invited practitioner contributions and the international Judgment in the Room book and interview project. The underlying Rezolva archive is designed to continue developing as more practitioners, perspectives and professional questions are added over time.
